Beskrivelse
The course is a two day workshop and masterclass aimed at doctoral students interested in a social semiotic approach to visual communication. Lectures (re-)introduce the PhD students to some basic methods of visual analysis and sets out some possibilities for further development of the methods. These developments are discussed in workshops with the aid of data sets that will be provided. Themes will among other things be ‘Narrative visuals and the issue of vectors’, ‘Salience as semiotic or perceptive phenomenon’ and ‘Modality in the digital age’.PhD students are encouraged to give short presentations on their own projects for further discussions in relation to the topics of the course.
Each student will be offered individual consultations with the presenters Morten Boeriis and Theo van Leeuwen.
