This course examined Denmark during and after the German occupation in the wider context of the 1930s and the post-war transition. Rather than treating the occupation as an isolated episode, it explored how political, social, and economic developments before 1940 shaped Danish society under occupation and influenced the challenges of peace after 1945. Key themes included the treatment of collaborators, refugees, war victims, citizenship, welfare, and the reconstruction of Danish society between 1933 and 1950. The course combined Danish and international scholarship with contemporary source material.
