Objectives To analyse the clinical and laboratory data from the seafarers´ routine biannual medical examinations, especially diabetes type 2 and hypertension and a systematic literature review of results from other studies (a sample of data is available)Project methodology
1. Systematic literature review (2014-2023)
2. Data analysis of digitalised clinical and lab data for a prevalence study in the fishermen and seafarers’ populations
3. The findings will be used to enrich the work in The International Diabetes and Hypertension Research Group
To describe the prevalence of Pre-diabetes, Diabetes Type 2, BMI, pre-Hypertension, Hypertension based on the clinical data from routine medical examinations for seafarers and fishermen.
To describe the trends over the latest 10 years of the same variables based on a systematic literature review
To propose possibly how to harmonize a global data collection describing the trends in this population based on the literature and your ideas.
All age groups in the seafarers´ and fishermens’ medical exams
A sample of anonymous digitalised data from ca. 400 medical examinations in large maritime medical clinics with lab and clinical data is available
