Beskrivelse

Low-carbon energy sources as the promising pathways for substituting the traditional fossil fuels can significantly mitigate climate change, enhance energy security and promote sustainable development. Sustainability-oriented assessment, design and optimization of energy systems have been comprehensively studied by Dr. Jingzheng Ren, as a core member in the team of Prof. Michael Evan Goodsite (a top expert on Climate Change) and Prof. Marie Lützen (a top expert on energy-saving and efficiency improvement through ship operations), in the Department of Technology and Innovation, University of Southern Denmark. This group employed multi-disciplinary knowledge to develop various useful methodologies based on computer-aided decision-making and optimization to deal with energy problems for a more sustainable future, i.e. sustainable assessment of energy systems, energy security analysis, energy policy design, sustainable biofuel supply chain optimization, energy efficiency analysis, ship operations for energy-saving, and life cycle assessment of renewable energy sources, et al. Dozens of papers that focus on the nexus of Energy, Industrial Engineering, and Sustainability have been published on some famous international journals, i.e. Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy, Bioresource Technology, Energy Conversion and Management, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Waste Management, and International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, et al. They believe that appropriate planning of energy industry, correct decision-making on energy selection (i.e. selection suitable alternative energy sources for shipping), and optimization of energy systems (i.e. energy management of shipping activities) will lead to a more bright, sustainable and harmonious future.
