In the 1990s, issues of differences were thematized in the scholarly dialogues between Didaktik and Curriculum. Presently, however, scholarly contact, shared academic impulses, and cooperation across Didaktik and Curriculum countries are more frequent than ever while neoliberal policies of evidence orientation, accountability and standardization are globally shared conditions.
Still, we may refer to the differences of ‘constitutional mind sets’ (Hopmann 2008, 2015) that probably still shape curricular policies, institutional practices, and research approaches. Similarly, according to Autio (2014), although there is a shared need for new intellectual, econo¬mical, and political theories of learning, curriculum, and reform, there are also important historical differences to be considered.
The symposium takes its departure in this analysis, addressing two urgent global challenges for the educational project and taking these challenges as gateways to investigating differences of historical traditions, geopolitical positions, and scholarly approaches.

KNOWLEDGE, CONTENT, AND DISCIPLINARITY
IN THE POST-FACTUAL ERA
Sustainability is interpreted in a wide sense, as incorporating issues of climate and environment, society, democracy and welfare, cultural and individual diversity.
The post-factual era similarly addresses a wide field of issues such as fake news, access to vast amounts of internet information, and pressure on established disciplinary knowledge and expertise to prove its relevance and worth.
The symposium genre involves explorative discussion, responsiveness, and engagement in the dialogue. The program is set up to facilitate this kind of communication. To support both depth of the dialogue and shared understanding across backgrounds

and mind sets, the main speakers will provide written papers one week ahead of the symposium to be distributed to all participants, including, not least, respondents.
