Webinar: Sound in RoboticsMay 23rd, 15.00 - 16.30
Very few topics are as exotic as robots. In our attempt to make robots as useful as possible, the sound component is as important as any of its other parts of which we normally would associate with robots, i.e. mechanical bodily functions. This webinar explores some of the latest different research angles in which sound in robotics can be used to improve robotics, its use cases, applications or research questions.
Robotics is a vast field that spans into all kinds of robots. Whether that is a more humanoid type of robot, or a warehouse repetitive mechanical robot doing the same task an infinite amount of times. For humanoid robots one would normally assume that the sound part is mainly the voice of the robot; where as for other types of robots, sound would normally be more related to its mechanical features, or for some kind of specific task that involves different sound sensors or even, designing a robot for the purpose of sound research (and not necessarily focusing on the sound properties of the robot itself). In this webinar we will go from one end of the spectrum to the other – from robot voices to silent robots that were developed for the purpose of sound research.
