New technologies are often met with fear, spurring special interest groups to champion societal change in order to accommodate the new technological development and its imagined consequences. In this seminar, we use three historical cases from the 20th century, as well as a new theoretical framework, to illuminate fear and technology from new research perspectives, with a special focus on the impact of authority, media and materiality.
This seminar is organised by PhD-student Aske H. Nielsen, and the topic is: Nuclear weapons, computers, and our relationship with technology: Perspectives on fear and technological developments, with papers by Associate professor Casper Sylvest, Assistant professor Karena Kalmbach, PhD fellow Ginevra Sanvitale and PhD fellow Aske Hennelund Nielsen. The full programme will be distributed soon.
