H.C. Andersen's Fairy Tales and Stories - the digital manuscript edition

Aktivitet: Foredrag og mundtlige bidragKonferenceoplæg

Beskrivelse

The Hans Christian Andersen Centre at the University of Southern Denmark is currently working on a digital genetic edition of all preserved manuscripts relating to Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales and Stories. The ten-year project (2020-2030) has dealt with the following challenges related to textual scholarship:
1. Which type of transcription is best able to adequately represent the writing process (topological or genetical)?
2. Which type of digital scholarly edition (DSE) is best suited for the task?
3. Is it possible to build a digital framework that can be reused in editions that make different choices (TEI-Publisher)? This would reduce the costs for development for coming projects and increase the long-term durability of all projects involved.
We would finally also like to address the challenges related to reaching out to broader, potential user groups:
4. What adjustments help to make the edition accessible to users outside textual scholarship, be it from neighboring disciplines or in the classroom (e.g. visualizations and introductions)?
