    Beskrivelse

Lecture organized by Institute for Area Studies, Leiden University

One of the consequences of China’s economic reform and market development over the past decades has been the widening of social gap and gender inequality. How (un) equal it is between genders in today’s China? Why and how has gender inequality set in in China’s transition from socialism to a market economy? And what lessons can we draw from the Chinese experience? The lecture addresses these questions on the basis of a recently published book “Revisiting Gender Inequality: Perspectives from the People’s Republic of China”.
