Applied Machine Learning for Spine Surgeons: Predicting Outcome for Patients Undergoing Treatment for Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH)

Five machine learning (ML) and two conventional predictive models for achieving MCID was constructed with 1.968 LDH patients. Predictive performance was compared across models for EQ-5D, ODI, VAS leg, VAS back and Return to Work. ML models did not yield overall superior performance compared with conventional models.
